Who's this website for?

This website is for the Friends of Bromley's parks and green spaces. A place on the web where they can share information, download resources and refer to documentation.

If you need to know what to do, how to do it or what others have done, then this website is a great place to start. Over the coming weeks and months, not only will the website be populated with examples to download and policy documentation to reference. There will also be an opportunity for you to upload your own groups information, a diary of events and much more.

The evening of thought provoking talks and an opportunity for Friends to meet representatives from other groups at the Civic Centre, Bromley. This years theme is history of our parks and open spaces. Invitations will be sent to each group early in the New Year.

April
Event insurance
What and when? The collation of a list of events and activities the Friends would like to organise themselves during 2009 beyond work done on behalf of the London Borough of Bromley, for example, an easter egg hunt, a concert, a fete or a fair. Please let your Parks Partnership Officer know, even if it doesn't happen, by the 31st January so we can ensure we have appropriate insurance cover in place for you.

May
Dog Day [TBC]
This year the campaign will focus around a joint Street Services, Park Services and Partnership & Development Team event called Be a Responsible Dog Owner on Bromley High Street. Having a lead event in Bromley High Street should generate some press coverage for all those group who chose to join the campaign. Instead of creating packs for every group we will only supply packs - dog posters, dog pooh bags, etc. - to those who request them. If your Friends group would like a pack please send an e-mail to landscape.helpdesk@bromley.gov.uk

June
Friends Forum Annual General Meeting [TBC]
Don't see why we have a forum. Is it time for a change? The forum needs more independence? Do you think the Forum should be a self governing, autonomous group? Come and join us at the AGM. Make the Friends Forum for Bromley's parks and green spaces stronger.

September
People for Parks competition[TBC]
The Friends do so much fantastic work and to recognise this, each year we run a scheme that acknowledges these achievements. Want to know more? Contact the Parks Partnership team for more information.

Looking after wildlife

Any park or greenspace can have potential for wildlife. Don’t rush in to do things, research your site first. Ask a member of the greenspace team with wildlife experience to meet you on site to discuss what can be done. Read more ...
