Working with contractors

January 2008 saw the start of a new long-term relationship with a new grounds maintenance contractor English Landscapes. Below is a brief history and explanation of how the contract works for Friends supported parks and green spaces.

English Landscapes Maintenance Limited was established in 2002 but can date its routes back as early as 1917.

Bromley is the largest and most diverse contract currently managed by English Landscapes.

The old contracts were originally written for Bromley and focused on 'Bromley knows best'. But Bromley now realise the people who know their parks best are the users and English Landscapes wants to work with residents to help deliver what they need.

English Landscapes want to ensure that all their staff improve their knowledge by giving them the best training they can; it is English Landscapes intention to provide NVQ opportunities and introduce an apprenticeship scheme - growing their own gardens.
